14MAY18_XXXXXL56ENDIA: A Journey Through India
India is a country of many contrasts, with a rich history and culture that has captivated travelers for centuries. My trip to India in May 2018 was no exception, as I explored the bustling cities, serene landscapes, and ancient ruins that make up this incredible country.
One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the Taj Mahal in Agra. Built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his late wife, this iconic structure is a testament to love and devotion. Seeing the Taj Mahal in person was truly breathtaking, with its gleaming white marble and intricate carvings taking my breath away.
I also had the opportunity to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar, which is the holiest shrine of Sikhism. The temple is a beautiful sight, with its large pool of water and impressive dome. The atmosphere of the temple was tranquil and peaceful, and I felt a sense of spiritual connection while I was there.
Other highlights of my trip included exploring the streets of Delhi, the Pink City of Jaipur, and the beautiful beaches of Goa. Each destination had its unique charm and beauty, and I found myself falling in love with every place I visited.

During my trip to India in May 2012, I had the opportunity to volunteer at a local school and teach English to young children. It was an experience that changed my life and opened my eyes to the challenges faced by the children in this country.
The children I worked with were eager to learn and excited to have a new teacher. They were bright and curious, and it was wonderful to see their progress over the few weeks I spent with them. However, I also saw the challenges they faced - many of the children came from impoverished backgrounds, and their access to education was limited.
Despite the challenges, the children remained positive and open-minded. They were proud of their culture and heritage, and I learned so much from them during my time in India. It was a humbling and rewarding experience, and one that left a lasting impression on me.
14MAY18_XXXXXL56ENDIAN60: Exploring India at 60
Traveling to India at 60 was a different experience than my previous trips to the country. Although I had visited before, I approached the trip with a different mindset and a greater appreciation for the culture and history of India.
One highlight of my trip was visiting the Ajanta and Ellora caves, which are ancient Buddhist temples carved into the rock. The intricate carvings and sculptures were breathtaking, and I felt a sense of awe and reverence as I explored the caves.
I also visited the Karni Mata temple in Rajasthan, which is home to thousands of rats that are considered sacred by the locals. While the idea of a temple filled with rats may seem strange to some, it was a fascinating and unique experience that I will never forget.
Throughout my trip, I was struck by the warmth and hospitality of the Indian people. Despite the challenges faced by many in this country, the people I met were kind, gracious, and eager to share their culture with me. The food, the music, and the art of India have left an indelible mark on me, and I hope to return to this beautiful country again someday.
